We are a year 1/2 class at Hope School in Nelson New Zealand. Our blog is mainly used to help us link to other areas to support our learning. We now share what we are doing in class on Seesaw with our families.

Friday Rich Maths Fun
Butterfly Flowers and Nim 7 from Hope School on Vimeo.
We had to pair up our butterflies so their total would be the same as one of the flowers. We became very good at using a 10 plus and other number to make a teen number.
We also played a 2 player game called Nim 7. It is a basic form of the ancient game of Nim. We needed 7 objects. We placed the 7 objects in a pile and decided who went first. (In the next game the other person went first) Each player took a turn to take away either one or two counters. The player who won was the player who took the last counter.
Some of us came up with some winning strategies.
I wonder what would happen if we started with more counters?
