Term 4 2013

We are very excited to have a new mix of class members this term. We sadly said goodbye to our Year 3 friends, but were very happy to welcome Olivia, Reuben, Kellen, Tyler, Mya and Rebecca into our class.

Discovery Time

Today we had our first 'discovery' session. It brought back memories of times at kindy and preschool. There were a number of activities and items set out in the classrooms. We were allowed to go around and choose something we would like to do. We didn't have a teacher telling us how we should be using the equipment. We were allowed to explore, investigate and experiment. We had fun learning. What a great morning!

Games from the Past

In recent weeks we have been learning about games from the past. We have looked at marbles, rounders, spinning tops, yoyos and hand games. We really enjoyed having Grandparents come to school and share with us some games that they used to play.

Be Bright, Be Seen!

It is important to make sure you can be seen when you are walking, running or riding around on the streets. We dressed up bright so we could be seen.

Native Bird Inquiry Unit Research

In Room 4 we have been learning about birds native to NZ. We each chose our own bird to research. We found out lots of different information using a variety of methods including using the internet, library books, discussions with teachers and other adults, and bird information sheets. We then typed up the information and displayed it on a poster to present back to our class.
